Sparks Bristol, an art and sustainability hub in Bristol, is a partnership project brought to you by Artspace Lifespace & Global Goals Centre with creative design from The Invisible Circus

Breathing new life into the old M&S building on a ‘meanwhile use’ basis until the site is redeveloped, the building is used as a hub for local artists including artist R&D space, a reuse shop providing recycled goods, repair services, and education projects for schools. There are installations, stalls and workshops to demonstrate how to take easy, (and often money-saving) actions on climate, equality and wellbeing – the themes of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Wonderful space, shops, and everything else! The only reason I venture into Broadmead these days and a little peek into what the future of our town centres could (should!) look like. Have bought beautiful gifts, fixed my sunglasses, and attended climate action workshops all in one place. Looking forward to exploring the vintage clothes a bit more next time.

We want Sparks to be welcoming and inclusive for all our visitors. We have intentionally designed wide walkways throughout Sparks Bristol to accommodate people using wheelchairs and mobility scooters, ensuring a comfortable and seamless experience. Dogs on leads are warmly welcomed, allowing visitors to bring their canine companions along.

Our ground floor is fully accessible, and the first and second floors can be easily reached via a lift. We provide British Sign Language (BSL) and Braille versions of our fire procedures to cater to the needs of all our guests.

The Joey Pod at Sparks Bristol is a quiet, comfortable space designed to provide a calm environment for visitors. It is especially beneficial for individuals with sensory sensitivities, such as those on the autism spectrum.

“My son is autistic and it’s great to have a space where we can stop, a kind of refuge

Visitor Feedback May 2023

In January 2024 we created a prayer room in the heart of the ground floor following feedback from our visitors. We also offer numerous quiet spaces where visitors can relax without any obligation to spend money, making Sparks Bristol a barrier-free and inclusive destination for everyone.
