Horfield Police Station
Date : 2006 – 2007
This was a Bristol City Council building that had been empty for some time and became home to the Artspace Lifespace project in 2007, providing a much needed administrative base for operations for the next two years. The site housed a number of studio spaces as well as communal training rooms, office spaces and roof garden.
The Horfield Police Station became our first stable longer term project in partnership with the city council. It housed a variety of offices and workshops as well as providing rehearsal and a small events space on the ground floor.
It came a crucial time for us when we wanted to establish the project as a workers co-operative and begin to develop the organisation to establish a working model. From this base we began to look for more creative spaces to take on, which led to the Pro Cathedral project.
