I am a singer, vocal improviser and piano player.
I facilitate workshops in Collaborative Vocal Improvisation (CVI).
In CVI, groups of singers come together to make music spontaneously with their voices, across contemporary genres. You can think of it as a jam session among vocal musicians, with looping, interlocking musical patterns; harmonies and solos.
I work within a style of CVI that was pioneered by members of Bobby McFerrin’s Voicestra community in the US. I’m nearing the end of my third year of CVI study, and I’ve been taught by some of the UK’s leading facilitators and artists. This includes extended courses with Briony Greenhill and Emma Coleman, and facilitator training with Guillermo Rozenthuler.
I am currently developing CVI workshops for 2021, based on the values of deep listening, embodied connection, musicality, shared leadership and authentic self-expression.
I am also studying vocal technique and working on my own repertoire of songs for performance using voice and piano.
